Well done on finding the National Student Rodeo. NSR is a freestyle kayaking event organised by Leeds University Canoe Club. NSR is now the largest freestyle event in the world* with over 1000 students and party goers in attendance from over British University canoe clubs. It is held annually on the first weekend of March(4/5/6) at Holme Pierrepont National White Water Centre.
There are categories to suit all abilities, and amazing prizes for all the winners. We have some amazingly generous sponsors, who this year have given like they've never given before! The catefories will be: Novice Men, Intermediate Men, Expert Men, Novice Women and Women. You will be sorted into these different groups by taking part in the Extreme Slalom on Saturday morning, when you will paddle down a section of the course "performing" at three different points. These will include an old school move, 360 turn on any axis, and a new school move. Points will be awarded according to the skill level displayed in performing each of the moves. No points will be awarded for comedy/costumes on the extreme slalom... save that for the heats!
*at least no one has proved us wrong yet!
